I was born on March 16, 1971 in Durham, NC, although I lived most of my life in Atlanta, GA, and spent seven years in Valencia, Spain. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Agnes Scott College in Spanish Literature with a minor in English, and a Bachelor of Science in Geosciences and Meteorology from Mississippi State University. I hold the AMS Seal for radio and television and I am a member of the National Association of Science Writers.I worked for 10
years as a bilingual (English/Spanish) broadcast meteorologist at The
Weather Channel Latin America and AccuWeather.
I am now a science and research writer at Penn State in the College
of Science. I also have collaborated on several projects, including a video
education project, with my husband, Dr. Mark Shriver,associate professor of genetics in the Department of Anthropology at Penn State.
